Doylestown, Pennsylvania

Doylestown is the county seat for Bucks County, located in Southeastern Pennsylvania, 2 ½ hours south of New York City and 1 hour north of Philadelphia. Not far from New Hope and Peddlers’ Village, Doylestown is home to the Mercer Museum, the Moravian Tile Works and the Michener Museum. Situated in Central Bucks County, and extending into Buckingham and Furlong, Doylestown is a shopping and cultural mecca. The area is home to the highly-ranked Central Bucks School District.

The Bucks County Courthouse is located in the center of Doylestown, at 100 North Main Street, just across the street from the former courthouse site (which is now home to Bucks County administrative offices). This is part of the “Bucks County Justice Center.” There is a parking garage, and lot, for the Bucks County Justice Center, nearby at Union Street and North Broad Street. Originally, the county seat, and the courthouse, was in Bristol, then Newtown, before finally ending up in Doylestown.

Though the region’s many farms have now dwindled in number, making room for the numerous housing communities, and industry is fairly light, there is a vibrant workforce in the city. From national franchises, to locally-owned businesses, from shops and restaurants, to manufacturers and distributors, to buyers and sellers, Doylestown is home to a wide range of occupations.

Bucks County is one of the few counties in Pennsylvania splitting workers’ compensation offices into more than one hearing location. Now that the Northeast Philadelphia Hearing Office is closed, forcing all Philadelphians to the Center City office, the only other split location in Southeastern PA is Montgomery County, where hearings are held in both Malvern and Dresher.
